The information in the book is quite sparse, but it's enough to give a functional overview of OB/Gyn so that as a med student, I didn't appear totally clueless in front of my residents and attendings that first week of the rotation. It's short enough to breeze through over a weekend. I found it absolutely invaluable for the clinical case scenarios at the end of most chapters, which helped greatly for the oral exam I had at the end of my clerkship.
But, as I said, it's sparse on details, and I needed other resources to get through the rotation as well. This book is great for the NBME Shelf exam. I am a 3rd year medical student who recently took the test and this book hit most (if not all) of the topics covered by the exam. It also presents the topics in table form to point out slight differences in clinical presentation that will help you make the diagnosis. There is also an appendix that lists answers to 'what is the most common.'
Which is helpful for the shelf exam and answering attendings questions while on rotations. This book also has some very helpful diagrams, particularly pertaining to twin placentation. I would highly recommend this book to other med students.

It is unique among case-based series in giving greater focus to high-yield information. The cases and accompanying images faithfully replicate the format of the case encounters presented in Step 2, and key points and important Step 2 'buzzwords' are highlighted for each case.
The approach is simple and focused without leaving out any important information. Plus, the format gives readers the opportunity to guess the answer to the case before it is revealed and to postulate on which tests to order, what therapy to give and what to 'watch out for' in the condition presented.
